This presentation will discuss the concepts of arterial and venous hemodynamics. Equations for pressure gradient, resistance, and Poiseuille’s and Bernoulli’s principles will be presented, and each factor in the equations will be described. The relationship between pressure, resistance, and volume will be described and then applied to both normal and abnormal flow states. In addition, waveforms for different arterial and venous flow states will be described. A final summation will discuss the relationship between arterial and venous blood flow, and how disease in one system will affect flow in the other system.
