Maintaining position during a radiation therapy simulation
session or treatment can be challenging for patients who suffer from
psychosocial stress such as claustrophobia or general anxiety. By
communicating, educating, and providing additional positioning and
immobilization options, the radiation therapist can assist patients in coping
with their fears. This article discusses short- and long-term strategies and
provides examples and suggestions for helping patients feel more at ease and in
control during radiation therapy.
This quiz is the companion to the short report, "Reducing Psychosocial Stress in Patients Receiving Radiation Therapy", which appears in the Fall 2022 Radiation Therapist journal.
This activity may be available in multiple formats or from different sponsors. ARRT regulations state that an individual may not repeat a self-learning activity for credit if it was reported in the same biennium.
