This presentation describes the role of radiation therapists in protecting patients, personnel, and the public from ionizing radiation. The steps taken during the treatment procedure to protect the patient and radiation therapist are discussed, along with the safety equipment inside and outside of the treatment room. Important terms in radiation protection such as absorbed dose, dose equivalent, effective dose equivalent, and radioactivity are also covered.
