All of us have a special woman in our life: a mother, sister, wife, etc., and their health and wellbeing is important to us. In this October Breast Cancer Awareness presentation, we will review breast cancer data including incidence, mortality, and detection rates. We will discuss many of the risk factors for breast cancer; some which can be controlled and some that cannot. We will cover the various breast imaging techniques used in the detection of breast cancer, beginning with basic screening mammograms and the importance of the mammography report. We will dispel common myths surrounding breast cancer, and reflect upon our call to action when we see pink during the month of October.
