Breast density is evaluated by the radiologist, and is described by the ACR as a blend of fibrous and glandular tissue with fatty tissue. This presentation will describe the four categories of breast density, what they represent, and how they are reported. Earlier this year, the FDA issued changes that require specific information about breast density to be reported to referring physicians and patients. Although many states may already have breast density notification laws, they vary widely by region. We will discuss how these requirements may affect your facility, help you understand these changes, and list steps to become compliant when the changes take effect.
