Long-term survivors of cancer, especially pediatric
patients, suffer from serious adverse late effects. Late effects of treatment
for cancers that most commonly afflict pediatric patients include childhood
brain and spinal cord tumors, neuroblastomas, and bone and soft-tissue tumors.
Radiation therapy also has a role in causing late effects, and radiation
therapists should be aware of potential complications to improve supportive
patient care.
