As the population becomes more diversified, so does the prevalence of cultural diversity, increasing the demand for institutions to improve practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Cultural intelligence, or CQ, is a derivative of general intelligence and refers to functioning effectively in a culturally diverse setting. CQ in health care organizations is necessary for facilitating cross-cultural understanding, enhancing patient care, and promoting tolerance and cohesion for the wide array of cultural differences. Organizational DEI practices can be implemented skillfully and can range in complexity, whether developing a workshop, providing a cultural immersive experience, or learning a foreign language.
