Imaging geriatric patients is one of the most worthwhile specialties in radiography, but it comes with a number of distinct challenges. Some of these challenges include dedicated imaging protocols to acquire the images, a possible need for sedation or general anesthesia for longer procedures such as MRI, specific training for the healthcare personnel involved, and most importantly, it requires consideration of radiation exposure. One of the challenges for clinical care personnel is to gain the patient’s trust and cooperation for the duration of an examination. This presentation seeks to draw attention to various challenges of geriatric imaging and the best ways to overcome them.
