Resolution in CT images is multi-faceted, and achieving optimal image resolution requires a sound understanding of CT image formation. CT technologists must work with radiologists, physicists and vendors to maximize their CT system’s resolution potential in every CT exam. This presentation describes the basic elements of CT image formation that affect spatial, contrast and temporal resolution. It also addresses how various parameters and patient-care considerations influence the decisions a CT tech will make to conscientiously modify CT protocols.
