CT technologists make the difference for patients undergoing CT exams. They are the final connection, the last caregivers with whom patients interact before their exam is performed. To ensure the highest-quality care is provided, and highest-quality images are acquired, the CT technologist must possess a thorough understanding of the procedure and the parameters under which it is performed. This portion of our three-part program examines the relationships between image quality and CT radiation dose by explaining how each parameter affects dose. In addition, this presentation describes strategies a technologist might employ to mitigate the risks and maximize the benefits of the exam.
