Despite advances in other medical imaging modalities, fluoroscopic studies continue to thrive in medical imaging, but in a fashion much different than in years past. Much of this increased utilization is the result of technological improvements in image receptors, particularly flat panel digital detectors. The application of these detectors in fluoroscopy has been profound, and their principles of operation are not even remotely close to those of image intensifier systems. In this presentation we will look at the operation and features of modern flat panel digital fluoroscopic systems, and their affect upon the technologist.
