Breast cancer remains the number one cancer affecting women in the United States. It is estimated that one in every eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer has been extensively studied and numerous treatment options are available. Radiation therapy has a significant role in the management of breast cancer as a definitive, adjuvant or palliative treatment option. Despite the prevalence of this disease, many myths and misconceptions surround the diagnosis, and the use of radiation as a treatment.
