Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is a noninvasive method to image cardiac anatomy and function. It can be used alone or with other imaging modalities. The use of late gadolinium-enhanced CMR in routine cardiac imaging is advantageous, specifically for visualizing small infarcts in the myocardium. CMR produces high-resolution cardiac structure images and detects compromised areas that have the potential to be overlooked by other imaging techniques.
