Hand hygiene is the simplest and most common way to prevent patients from acquiring nosocomial infections while in the hospital; however, approximately 1 in 25 patients admitted will contract a nosocomial infection from health care workers’ contaminated hands or from touching a contaminated surface. To reduce microorganism growth and the spread of dangerous diseases, radiologic technologists and other health care employees should wash their hands before and after interacting with patients as well as frequently disinfect the surfaces of their mobile phones, mobile devices, and imaging equipment.
