This article describes how PET/CT allows for in vivo and quantitative analysis of the functional status of non–small-cell lung cancer at the molecular level. In addition, the advantages of new PET tracers beyond FDG in non–small-cell lung cancer imaging are discussed, and how personalized molecular therapy will change diagnosis and treatment of this condition in the future.
