This article examines how heavily T2-weighted fast MR imaging techniques are used in imaging of the internal auditory canal and inner ear, and the techniques needed for advanced 3-dimensional flip angle optimized MR imaging of the temporal bone. The use of multishot nonechoplanar imaging and echoplanar diffusion-weighted imaging techniques are also discussed.
