This article describes how waveform analysis of the vertebral arteries may hint at pathology in the subclavian, carotid, brachiocephalic, and intracranial arteries, and how provocative maneuvers can be used to identify waveforms. The reasons why ultrasound is used for monitoring of pathology in the extracranial vertebral artery are also discussed.
