Total body irradiation (TBI) is a radiation therapy treatment that delivers a specific dose of radiation to the entire body using extended source-to-skin distance with a large field size. TBI can be used instead of chemotherapy for myeloablation, although toxicity can be a concern for some patients. While additional clinical evidence is necessary to determine the dose system for TBI, further research will aid in improving TBI radiation therapy.
