Total body irradiation (TBI) is a radiation therapy treatment that delivers a specific dose of radiation to the entire body using extended source-to-skin distance with a large field size. TBI can be used instead of chemotherapy for myeloablation, although toxicity can be a concern for some patients. While additional clinical evidence is necessary to determine the dose system for TBI, further research will aid in improving TBI radiation therapy.
This quiz is the companion to the column “Total Body Irradiation,” which appears in the Spring 2020 Radiation Therapist journal.
