Instructor: Amanda Golsch, M.B.A., R.T.(R)(MR)
This presentation covers the basic concepts of magnetism and how substances should be assessed for magnetic susceptibility in the MRI environment. We will evaluate how ferromagnetic materials behave when exposed to an externally-applied magnetic field. Additionally, we will evaluate how to make a magnetic field, the types of magnets that are used in imaging, and different coils and their physical properties. Lastly, we will look at how the atoms in our bodies react in the MRI environment, and the nature of T1, T2, and T2* contrast.
