Knowledge of proper patient care, safety and screening techniques is crucial in the MRI environment. Although MRI does not use ionizing radiation to acquire diagnostic images, it does have potential safety hazards that can be harmful or lethal depending on the circumstances. It is necessary that technologists understand the safety concerns and find ways to mitigate these dangers.
This presentation will walk professionals through proper patient interaction techniques and effective ways to integrate safety into all aspects of job performance. Designating safety as a mandatory practice requires understanding of patient monitoring techniques and application of safe patient transfer and assistance techniques. Upon completion of this presentation, technologists will have a thorough understanding of the MRI environment, its components, and methods used to effectively respond to medical emergencies.
