Abuse of elders takes many different forms, both mental and physical. In the U.S. more than half a million reports of abuse against elderly Americans reach authorities every year, and millions more cases go unreported. This presentation will cover signs and symptoms of elder abuse and imaging studies of reported cases will be reviewed. Standard reporting procedures and how technologists should respond when elder abuse is suspected will also be covered. Communication skills that technologists can use with elderly patients will also be discussed.
