This quiz is the companion to the Directed Reading article "Imaging Acute and Chronic Wrist Conditions".
Imaging of the wrist is common across many medical imaging modalities. It is important that radiologic technologists understand wrist anatomy and common indications for wrist imaging. The radiocarpal joint commonly is fractured, dislocated, or both, especially among children and older adults, and radiographs typically are ordered first to evaluate wrist pain after a fall. In addition to traumatic injuries, chronic wrist pain leads providers to order medical imaging examinations. Technologists should be familiar with the proper positioning and techniques required to pro-duce high-quality diagnostic wrist images.
