This presentation will review the importance of infection control and clarify who is responsible for upholding and maintaining an environment of safety for patients and employees. We will discuss how health care workers protect patients, and the factors that affect patient safety. Participants will also learn about fire safety, chemical safety, radiation safety, electrical safety, and proper usage and handling of oxygen tanks. We will take a detailed look at common pathogens and how infectious diseases are transmitted. Lastly, appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes will be outlined to describe how they prevent the spread of infectious disease.
