Basic nuclear magnetism and how it affects contrast weighting are essential concepts in MR imaging. A technologist must first master these concepts in order to understand more advanced concepts in image production. This presentation discusses how the basic behaviors of the hydrogen protons affect image contrast weighting. This in turn provides a method to discern tissues of different signal intensities for medical diagnosis.
