Gallbladder cancer is uncommon and might not be diagnosed until a patient exhibits late-stage symptoms. As with many types of cancers, early detection results in better outcomes and treatment options. If gallbladder cancer is suspected, sonography or computed tomography images might be performed to determine the presence and extent of disease. Treatments options include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and targeted therapy drugs, but further research is needed to better understand the causes of gallbladder cancer and how to treat it.
This quiz is the companion to the column, "Gallbladder Cancer: Risk Factors, Diagnosis, and Treatment," which appears in the January/February 2021 Radiologic Technology journal.
