The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruptions in health care systems worldwide. In some regions, health delivery has been compromised by shortages of critical resources, from personal protective equipment to health care workers. Critical and urgent imaging needs of patients remain despite the pandemic; therefore, providing protection against transmission of the virus to patients and staff is imperative. With appropriate safeguards, radiology care is low risk for
COVID-19, and radiology department personnel can manage how the outbreak affects the department, staff, and patients. In their efforts to manage during the crisis, health care leaders at New York University Langone Health Department of Radiology focused on minimizing damage and establishing guidelines to prevent virus spread and keep patients safe and protected during appointments.
