MRI is
appropriately touted as one of the safest diagnostic imaging modalities. The
powerful magnetic fields used in the MR imaging process are well known, but staff
do not always recognize what can and cannot be safely accommodated in the MR
room. The non-magnetic hazards and energies integral to this environment are
also not always understood. We will discuss various energies that are used in
the MR imaging environment, where they are distributed, and when they are
active and inactive. Techniques for ensuring the safety of patients with
devices, implants, and foreign bodies during MR imaging studies will be
discussed.
Free access is included with membership. All titles for which you have not previously earned CE credit appear in your CE library.
