This quiz is the companion to the Directed Reading article “Prostate Cancer: An Insider’s Perspective,” which appears in the Radiation Therapist 2021 Fall journal.

Advances in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment have been made in recent years, especially as more sophisticated medical imaging is used. These advances include magnetic resonance (MR) imaging fusion techniques, improved biopsy methods, use of hydrogel spacer material, and improvements in external beam treatment and brachytherapy techniques. An overview of pertinent pelvic anatomy and important diagnostic tools, such as prostate-specific antigen, Gleason score, and a new Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System used with functional MR imaging, are included. Current treatment options also are discussed, including active surveillance.
