As nationally registered medical professionals, radiologic technologists and radiation therapists must adhere to high standards of ethical practice. Medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals with a strong understanding of medicolegal concerns in the clinical environment are better prepared to deliver optimal patient care, while those without are at greater risk of job loss, causing patient injury, or worse. This presentation will cover ethical and legal issues for radiologic technologists and radiation therapists in practice. Patient rights, including types of consent, the Patient Bill of Rights, and other legal issues and terminology will be discussed. The ARRT® Standards of Ethics will also be reviewed in the presentation.
