Randy Griswold, M.P.A., R.T.(R)
The development of digital radiography has brought about a paradigm shift in image formation and assessment. The traditional visual quality cues of radiographic density, contrast and recorded detail are no longer a convenient way to judge image quality, as they are now controlled by sophisticated software and post-processing features. Instead, images are now assessed based on quantifiable indicators of exposure correctness and digital signal value. These values can be expressed as a variance from the optimum exposure.
This presentation will provide a clinically-focused perspective to evaluate radiographic image quality. Images from common exams will be presented and assessed with the image benchmarks used by radiologists.
