This presentation will cover best-practice techniques for enhancing radiation safety during CT scanning. X-ray physics and exposure will be reviewed, as well as their collective effect on patient dose during data acquisition. The basic concepts of radiation biology and CT dose measurement will be explored, including tips for minimizing patient exposure. The presentation will discuss CT dose reduction and optimization techniques, including inherent scanner features as well as additional efforts from the technologist. Methods for maximizing personnel protection from scatter radiation will also be included.
