Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms are becoming an increasingly common subject for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. However, while it’s becoming clear that these technologies are going to change our practice, this doesn’t mean that they will replace staff. This presentation will focus on how AI and ML will enhance the work of R.T.s by freeing up time to focus on patient care. By examining our role within medical imaging and radiation therapy departments, we can help to enact positive change during technological shifts through idea sharing, equipment application and purchases, and training. This presentation will also discuss how to prepare for a future with AI, and why the conversations about ethical and legal considerations of AI will become even more important.
