This presentation will define strokes, explore the risk factors and preventative measures for strokes, and discuss the annual statistics for strokes in the United States. Both types of strokes will be covered, along with symptoms and why emergent treatment is so critical to achieving good outcomes for stroke patients. Mechanical thrombectomy treatment using suction catheters will be demonstrated, including proper table setup and preparation and possible access sites.
