This presentation covers the safety and monitoring needs of facilities using radioactive materials. Different forms of ionizing radiation will be discussed, along with a description of the use, composition, and function of radiation detectors. The process for performing area surveys and wipe tests will be explained. Nuclear Regularly Commission requirements with respect to radiation monitoring, decontamination procedures, and safety will be discussed, along with appropriate signage.
