The diagnostic examinations used in medicine, including radiologic technologies, examinations, and procedures, are constantly evolving. However, this evolution does not happen in a vacuum; diagnostic testing is continuously evaluated to ensure its accuracy and safety. This presentation will introduce the concepts of accuracy in diagnostic testing, including the criteria of sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value. Calculations and examples from the radiology literature will be presented to illustrate these concepts.
