Magnetic resonance angiography, or MRA, is a non-invasive approach for evaluating the integrity of arterial and venous vasculature where there is concern for pathologies such as stenosis, dissection, aneurysm, or bleeding. Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the area of interest, as well as understanding of the positioning and MR physics associated with common scanning strategies, are imperative for optimizing the diagnostic value of the exam. This presentation describes the basic elements of routine MRA exams as it pertains to the role of an MR Technologist.
