Mammography has had to overcome various obstacles throughout the years to find its place as a gold standard imaging modality for breast cancer detection. Ongoing patient education, community support, and technological innovation are helping to reduce breast cancer mortality and morbidity, and radiologic technologists have a vital role in these efforts. Understanding and being able to discuss with patients advances within the field of mammography and breast imaging can help them ease patients’ concerns about radiation dose and mammography safety.
This quiz is the companion to the column, "Mammography Safety Revisited," which appears in the November/December 2019 Radiologic Technology journal.
